The draw for Tir Chonaill Gaels International sevens took place last night (Wednesday) at Tir Chonaill Park with London county board chairman Tommy Harrell doing the honours.

There are sixteen teams taking part in the competition with four groups of four, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the quarter finals.

All teams are asked to be registered by 11am with the tournament starting at 12noon sharp. There will also be a ladies competition taking place.

London champions Tir Chonaill Gaels host their 9th Annual Sevens tournament on Saturday 1st May 2010 (Bank Holiday).

The Gaels wish to extend an open invitation to any club wishing to participate in this hugely successful event and enjoy a weekend of fun in the English Capital. 

The tournament has grown in stature over the years attracting entries and followers from all over Ireland and Britain with more teams anticipated this year.  

Previous winners in the tournament include Saint Killians (Armagh), Queens University (Belfast), Killybegs (Donegal), Salthill Knocknacarra (Galway), Michael Breathnach (Galway) and last years winners All Saints from Antrim.  

The event is played to a finish on the Saturday with the winning team receiving £1000 in O’Neills vouchers and the Francie O’Donnell cup.

Also on the day there will be a ladies 7 aside tournament with an open invitation to all international clubs. All men’s and ladies teams will battle it out in a series of group matches with the strongest teams contesting for the semi-finals and finals followed by presentations and live music.   

Tir Chonaill Gaels will help where possible with accommodation and travel arrangements.
