Ray Cox helped himself to 1-4 as Leitrim registered a two-point win over an experimental Donegal side in a senior football challenge which marked the official opening of Eamon Byrne Memorial Park in Killybegs yesterday.

James Glancy also weighed in with 0-4 as Mickey Moran's side secured a morale-boosting win ahead of next month's Connacht SFC semi-final against either Roscommon or London. Donegal boss John Joe Doherty started under 21s Paddy McGrath, Conor Classon, Ashley Carr and Leo McLoone in a game that saw Darragh Gallagher continue his comeback after being sidelined for three months with a chest injury.
The sides were level on 1-5 to 0-8 at the break with Adrian Hanlon netting for the home side. A Cox goal pushed Leitrim clear in the second half, but they were left hanging on for the win after a late Donegal rally yielded scores from David Walsh, Ashley and Edward Kelly.
